Good morning church!
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)
The above passage spoke to me this morning as our nation is in the midst of choosing our next president and an innocent life was lost this past week during the political rally in Pennsylvania. There are other stories, too, that have been highlighted in the media about violence, war, and death inside and outside of our country. Indeed, our world has trouble. John Wesley said that that the world is our parish and Jesus instructed the disciples to go into "all the world" sharing the Gospel. There is no people or place that is too far from us to go to God and lift them up in prayer. God has and will provide safety and strength in times of crisis when we ask. Let me encourage you, church, to begin helping to be a part of the solution to bring peace where there often seems to be none. Start by asking God to intervene when and where it is needed and then make it a conscious decision to walk in an attitude of peace. Seek to love those around you, still your tongue when necessary, and find common ground with those who differ from you. While we cannot change the hearts of others, God can. What we can change, is ourselves--our thoughts, our words, and our actions.
Adults, if you do not have plans tonight, please join us for the "When You Pray" bible study. Doors open at 5:30pm and the study lasts from 6:15-7:15pm. There will not be any children or youth activities. Wednesdays for the kiddos will kick back off in September.
Join us this Sunday at 10:00am for worship at 2901 Austin's Colony Parkway! Adult Sunday School will be held at 8:45am. I am always encouraged on Sunday mornings when I look in and see a full classroom of our adults. Begin praying about and choosing to take part in this or another bible study or small group. We will never know God in a more intimate way or strengthen our faith if we do not spend time near God and in God's word.
Please mark your calendars with some upcoming events that have been planned to encourage you to get to know the church better, deepen your faith, and participate in the ministries of BCC. (First Friday will return in September)

We will need "all hands on deck" to help provide the meals. We will need people to help unload, serve, and clean up after the meals. We will need others to provide oranges, bananas, apples, and/or cereal bars. We will still need others to do both. If you have questions, please contact Rose Cates at rmcates@hotmail.com. (I learned that this is the FIRST TIME a church has loved on Rudder in this way! Go BCC!)

Good morning Bryan Community Church!
“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the laws my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
The words of the above text were from God to Joshua as God had called Joshua to lead the Israelites following Moses' death. Joshua would not only have large shoes to fill, but he would also have quite the work ahead of him. To lead an entire nation into an unknown territory with foreign cities and battles ahead. Wow! This would be frightening at best. Can you image the amount of sleep he would have lost? Just image the thoughts that would have gone through his mind. Would people listen, would people turn to go back to Egypt, what about the challenges and conflicts that would arise within their own nation and with outside nations? What if Joshua failed, what if there were not enough resources, what if, what if, what if...? Only the strength of the Lord would give Joshua the fortitude he needed to take on this new role.
This, of course, is a lesson for all of us. In any and every area of our life there are a lot of "what ifs", excuses, and reasons for anxiety. There are also a lot of reasons to shy away from the hard callings that God places on our lives. It would a whole lot easier and sometimes less expensive not to take the higher position, not to have the child, not to go back to school, not to go to counseling, not to leave or stay in the relationship, and not to wrestle through the pain of heartache and hardship. Yet when God calls us to get up early in the morning to take the walk, to show up at the bible study, or to put down the bottle there is a pretty good reason. God loves and cares for us. God wants what is best for us. God believes that we will accomplish the task before us. Like Joshua, God promises that we will not be alone in the work ahead.
What is it that God is asking of you?
Be strong and courageous. Do not be discouraged. Do not be afraid. The Lord will be with you wherever you go.

Good afternoon, Bryan Community Church!
I pray that you had a blessed holiday, was able to rest, and enjoy celebrating the birth of our nation! A very special thank you to the Mortan Family for hosting a great get together last evening with great food and fellowship. It was certainly hot but the conversation, food, and kiddos made it worth it!
Tomorrow, July 6th, at 10:00am the Rose Cates will be meeting at our mission outpost (2901 Austin's Colony Parkway) to put together lunches for Annointed Abilities. These lunches go to students with special needs who have a difficult time getting to the school summer lunch program. Annointed Abilities, with our help, is helping to fill a gap as we love our neighbors and share hope!
I just wanted to remind everyone that we will have worship on Sunday at 10:00am with adult Sunday School at 8:45am. The men will be making their famous pancakes for breakfast! It is communion Sunday and we will be collecting (as our loving offering) $25 HEB gift cards, laundry detergent, paper towels, toilet paper, and air fresheners for Family Promise this Sunday. There are three families with children who are staying with the ministry.
The following is a note from Debbie Eller, our board chair, to invite you to a board meeting next Tuesday evening at 6:30pm.
Hello church family! Please let me know if you have any questions. I hope everyone had a fun and Blessed celebration of our Country's birth.

Good morning Church!
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people he chose for his inheritance. Psalm 33:12
This week we are reminded of the pioneers and leaders who took the risk to come to the Americas and those who spoke up for many of our freedoms, including religion. Let us be grateful for the signing of the Declaration of Independence as it is a reminder and inspiration for our nation and people across the globe. While I know there are many religions present in our nation, we worship Christ. I ask that you spend this week in prayer and thanksgiving for our God who has allowed us to take residence in this nation and where we can speak and worship freely. There are many countries in this world who do not have this luxury. Pray, too, for those who are still oppressed to read and share the gospel both near and far. May God's people all seek Christ's love and share it with the world.
Join us Sunday as we continue our sermon series entitled, Brave, and are encouraged to live brave and Godly lives. Worship is at 10:00am. Bring a friend, family member, or neighbor as we worship together. Adult Sunday School will be at 8:45am. Breakfast will be provided by the men's group! Our communion offering this week will support Family Promise. There are three families with children being loved on and cared for by this great community ministry. Instead of taking up a monetary collection, we are asking that you bring toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, and air fresheners!
TOMORROW, Wednesday, July 3rd the "When You Pray" bible study will kick off! All ages are welcome to participate. Doors will open at 5:30pm. The study will be from 6:15pm-7:15pm. Bring someone with you! If you have trouble thinking of words to say to God when you pray, are afraid your emotions are too intense for God, or if prayer is sometimes a struggle, this study is for you. This study will take a look at many of the prayers that have been lifted to God in scripture for us to learn from.
Thursday, July 4th Party at the Morton's at 5:00pm! Let us celebrate our nation's independence with one another! Burgers, hotdogs, and drinks are provided. Bring a side, dessert, or both to share. Bring your lawn chairs, yard games, and (if you want) fireworks. This is a family friendly event! 9895 Ferrill Creek Rd, Bryan.
Saturday, July 6th Packing Lunches-Annointed Abilities has asked BCC to help provide lunches for 30 children for three days over the course of the month of July. Rose Cates is coordinating the efforts and will be packing the lunches on Saturday at 10:00am. If you wish to learn more, help pack, or donate please see Rose Cates rmcates@hotmail.com. These are children from College Station who do not have transportation to get to the school summer lunch program. We are helping Annointed Abilities fill in the gap with a breakfast item, snack, and healthy lunch.
Please take a look on our church website, Facebook, and Instagram pages to see what other summer events we have going on. Pints and Praise and First Friday have been canceled for July due to the heat. We look forward to continuing to do ministry together in our community and surrounding areas. If you are interested and have not yet placed your order for our fabulous Bryan Community Church t-shirts, shorts, hats, and other fun items, please do so by Sunday night at 11:59pm--Beverly extended the sale by a week.. https://m-mapparel.
As always, I look forward to worshipping with you! If you have any questions, would like a pastoral visit, or simply want to learn more about Bryan Community Church, please email, text or call me at 979.317.8786.
