Join Us for Church Leaves the Building
Join us as we dedicate a Sunday to being the hands and feet of Jesus in our community! Please read the details below to learn how you can lend a loving hand or receive service:
When: Sunday, December 29, 9:00am - 2:00pm
Audience: Any community member who is in need of assistance with honey-do type projects that would take approximately 4 hours to complete. Examples include: hanging curtains, pictures, or mirrors; replacing a faucet or shower head; replacing a ceiling fan; yard clean up; small fencing repair; cleaning flower beds; raking leaves; take down or put away Christmas decorations; painting a room; install fire alarms or carbon monoxide detectors; or other tasks that do not require a licensed contractor to complete.
Process: Members of the community may submit a Google form describing what they would like done by the deadline December 1st. Two members of the church will schedule a visit to review the project, determine if it is something we can do, what materials are needed, and how many people will be required. There will be a conversation about who will provide the materials. In some cases the church may be able to provide or find donations. In other cases the community member will provide the materials.
Volunteers: Members of the church who are interested and willing to volunteer will fill out a form describing their skill, abilities, and roles they are interested in. They may also donate monetarily towards the projects. Members may be on the teams who visit community members’ homes in advance of projects, work the day of the event, create care packages for the community members we serve, organize meals for the day of the event, and are encouraged to make connections with those outside of our church community who may be interested in engaging as a volunteer.
Day of the Event: Church members will gather at 8 am for breakfast at the church followed by a prayer by Pastor Jen. Supplies will be gathered and teams will head to the location to complete the projects. We can get donations for lunch to be delivered to the homes to feed our teams and the community members at each location. At 2 pm, teams return to the church to drop off supplies.
Feedback: Each team member will be asked to fill out a feedback form so we can improve for next time. Community members will also be asked to fill out a form via email or text to provide feedback on their experience with us.
